Freshman Academy Goal: To help students with their transition to ENHS Core classes, lockers and cafeteria located in the Freshman Academy Building Freshman Office – principal, counselor and secretary Insulation not isolation – transition + support

Freshman Year Students begin building their high school transcript – semester grades & attendance count! Academic Support Options: Tutorial Additional tutor lists in offices Students & parents should monitor progress on Portal

Parent Portal Please use portal to check your student’s grades & attendance online The address and phone numbers in IC are what we use to make contact ALL families must have access to Infinite Campus Parent Portal to verify important student information prior to schedule pick up

Chromebooks All students will receive a Chromebook to use in all of their classes Students will be responsible for charging and upkeep of their chromebooks Protection Plan Digital citizenship – we are watching!

Bus transportation will be available only for the 1-6 schedule.
Flex Schedule Bus transportation will be available only for the 1-6 schedule. 1-6 periods :40-2:30 (Flex AM) 2-7 periods :40-3:30 (Flex PM) 1-7 periods :40-3:30 _______________________________ Lunch times are determined by the 4th hour teacher. Students will find out, on the 1st day of school, whether they will have 1st lunch or 2nd lunch. Class schedules will not be made to change a lunch time.

College Prep vs Core Curriculum
College prep – 4 years science and math (4x4) 2 years foreign language* OR 2 years computer sciences *Athletes need to take foreign language for NCAA Clearinghouse Core – No 4x4, 3 years of math and science 1 year of computer class required Students will be enrolled in College Prep Curriculum unless a parent opts out

What counts for The Arts?
1 unit (2 semesters) of visual or performing arts – art, drama, vocal, music, instrumental music OR semester course of Humanities, Shakespeare, Mythology AP World History or AP European fulfill the arts requirements because the arts are embedded in these courses

On Level, Pre-AP and AP On Level Pre-AP and AP
Gives the most class time for working on assignments Provides more review time in class Provides more time for questions and answers on assignments Moves at a slower pace Pre-AP classes require more time reading and working at home Pre-AP classes are preparing students for AP coursework so the class environment is similar to an AP class AP courses are College Board curriculum courses (college level) AP courses have an optional test at the end of the course for possible college credit

Task oriented Proficient readers – have accurate/timely recall, are able to make inferences from what has been read Able to set priorities with regard to time and responsibilities Parental support Willing to commit the time and effort necessary to meet the more rigorous course requirements
