Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) refers to the efforts of a company to evaluate the effect of its OPERATIONS, PROCESSES & PHILANTHROPY on the broader community and to set policies and practices that maximize the positive impact of its activities on the company’s key stakeholders. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) works daily with four key groups to execute thousands of hours of community service annually across the TIAA landscape. These groups play an integral role in ensuring TIAA Serves is visible in all the markets where we live and work. CSR led and coordinated employee volunteer projects drove significant impact in our communities during 2017 TIAA employees making a difference 407 projects 8,000+ volunteers 16,400 volunteer hours Engaged employees in 23 states More than 810,000 lives impacted $398,763 operating expense offset for non-profit partners

8 2018 plan will focus on shaping an integrated TIAA culture and advancing the impact of the non-profit sector Shape an integrated TIAA culture across the full TIAA footprint Develop a cohesive strategy using the TIAA Serves philanthropic model in all our businesses; TIAA, Nuveen and TIAA Bank Increased engagement of EC and inclusion of CSR activities in significant business events Leverage and showcase TIAA philanthropic programs through the execution of the 100 Days of Difference Advance the impact of the non-profit sector Promote business partnerships and strategic engagement Support research, thought-leadership and convenings Leverage partner grants and investments Recognize and promote difference makers

TIAA Serves will be adding a fourth focus area to incorporate new business initiatives EDUCATION COMMUNITY BUILDING TIAA Serves partners with organizations devoted to providing financial education, increasing reading proficiency, improving high school graduation and college persistence rates. TIAA Serves addresses issues of poverty and homelessness by partnering with organizations that provide affordable housing and support economic development of local communities. Be a difference maker HUNGER ENVIRONMENT TIAA Serves addresses issues of food insecurity by providing support to school feeding programs, local food banks, hunger advocacy initiatives and international hunger relief programs. TIAA Serves engages employees to raise environmental awareness, engage in green initiatives and lead our industry in modeling sustainable behavior.
