Colonial Economy As the colonies continued to grow and flourish the British aimed to keep the profits of Colonial trade within their empire

18th Century After the monarchy is restored and stable in the 18th Century the Crown attempts to reassert control over the colonies

The Navigation Acts The Navigation acts forbid the colonies from trading with Spain, France, the Netherlands or any of their colonies English ships had to be used for trade Passed in 1650 but largely ignored until the 1700s
