2. Example
A company manufactures large rocket engines used to project satellites into space. A contract specifies that these engines are to use an average of 5500 pounds of rocket fuel for the first 15 seconds of operation. The company claims that its engines fit specifications. To test the claim, an inspector randomly selects six engines. The mean fuel consumption is found to be 5690 pounds with a standard deviation of 250 pounds. Test at the 5% level of significance.
