9.4 Testing a Hypothesis about a Population Proportion

If a claim is made regarding the population proportion, we can use the following steps to test the claim, provided that 1. the sample is obtained via simple random sampling, and 2. npo(1 – po) > 10 with n < 0.05N (the sample size, n, is no more than 5% of the population size, N).
