3 History Founded by John Winthrop along with group of Puritans.
Religious independence lead to departure from England. Wanted to become a model for others to look up to. “A city upon a hill” Great Migration - migration of refugees coming to the New World

Eventually followed Body of Liberties John Haynes was the initial governor Democratic tendency of government from an independent helped form other colonies government form Was called The General Court The General Court helped elect who was being introduced/removed into/out of the government. John Winthrop Jr. obtained a charter for Massachusetts from King Charles II of England. To vote you needed to be a freeman

8 Religion Protestantism
Puritans did not grant religious freedom to others who had unsimilar religious beliefs. They held power within their community of villages. Many accusations of witchcraft lead to countless executions. Puritans wanted their children to be bright in both religious and academic environments. Any sins that made were paid with the penalty of death.
