1. History:
As Historians we will examine the lives and achievements of some the Greatest Britons in history. We will use primary and secondary sources to create a biography of their lives.
Geography:
As Geographers we will learning about the names and locations of the British Isles’ human and physical features. Also, we will learn how to read ordnance survey maps. Additionally, our pupils will be taught how to identify map symbols and use 4 and 6 figure grid references. Finally, we will apply this knowledge to use O.S maps to help navigate a walk around Hopwood Hall woods.
Science:
As Scientists we will be studying the life cycle of human beings and animals. We will , in particular, focus om the transition from childhood to adulthood.
English:
As Language Specialists we are looking at the lives of famous Britons and producing a biography of their lives. Then we will producing a narrative story based on “home sweet home.” After this, we will move onto creating a persuasive booklets promoting tourism in the U.K. Next, will be another narrative text based on the animation “Little Freak.” We will be finishing the term with a performance from one of Britain’s most famous poets.
Maths:
As Mathematicians we will be exploring fractions, decimals and percentages and see how we can multiply and divide them. Afterwards, we will use this knowledge and apply it to a range of word based problems. Based on real life situations. This help promote the pupils mathematical reasoning skills and help them develop their mastery and greater depth of the subject.
Across the curriculum:
As Theologians we will be discovering about the morale values of the Sikh faith. Then we will be studying the most important religious festival of the year; Easter.
As members of our community we will be learning about our future goals in life and how through diet and exercise we can remain healthy.
As learners of Spanish we are learning how to count plus ask and answers basic questions in Spanish.
As Artists we will be creating a “pop art” portrait of famous historical Britons.
As Computer Programmers we will be fusing geometry and art to create abstract pictures.
As Musicians we will be introduced to the wonders of jazz and examine the works for the composer Benjamin Britten.
