The 2016 London Marathon took place on April 26th. Tim tweeted this photo on the day and said ”Morning, London! Fancy a run?” Photo: TIM PEAKE

Tim opened the London Marathon with a video message then strapped himself onto the ISS’s treadmill, completing the 42km (26.2miles) in about 3hrs and 35mins. Photo: ESA/NASA

Tim had his own medical team on Earth who monitored Tim’s vital stats as he did the marathon. What areas of Tim do you think they were monitoring? Photo: ESA/NASA

Several employees from the UK Space Agency ran the London Marathon to support Tim on earth. Their running group was called #TeamAstronaut. Libby ran the marathon wearing this replica Sokol space suit. Can you imagine what that might have felt like?! Photo: Libby Jackson/UKSA

Challenge Questions: If Tim ran 42km in 3 hours and 35mins, what was the average time it took him to run 1km? The Space to Earth challenge invites you to run the distance from Earth to the ISS (400 km). How long would that take Tim if he ran the same as his marathon pace? What parts of your body are working during a marathon? Why was it so important for Tim to have his own medical team looking after him during the run? Can you come up with an astronaut training plan to prepare for a marathon? Maybe you can train by running 1 kilometre in a onesie!
