The belief that war and violence are unjustifiable and that all disputes should be settled peacefully Different types of pacifism: Absolute pacifism – violence and war are always wrong, even in self-defence Conditional pacifism – they are against war and violence in principle but recognise there are occasions when they are the lesser of two evils. Draw out the distinction between the types of pacifism
