2 DIXON HIGH SCHOOL HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION EXPECTATIONS
5 minutes to dress out and be seated in spot Dress for participation (tennis shoes, shorts, sweats, t-shirts, no strapless shirts or tank tops) Due to safety/cleanliness concerns, no gum, food, candy or drinks is allowed in the gym. Water is acceptable. If you have valuables please give to the teacher to secure, otherwise Dixon High School is not responsible for theft. Do not leave valuables in the locker room. The locker room is secured during class. Please understand we value your parents input, however to be excused from physical education class you must have a note from a Doctor.

3 Dixon High School Physical Education Expectations

4 Dixon High School Physical Education Expectations
Physical Education counts 60 % of your grade. Students earn a maximum of 20 points per day for dressing and participation. If you do not participate or are absent, you may make up partial points by completing an online assignment given by the instructor Health counts 40 % of your grade. Your final exam counts 25 % of your grade. Students grade for the week will be posted on Friday of each week. All grades are accessible through PowerSchool.

Standard 1 - The physically literate individual demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns. Standard 2 - The physically literate individual applies knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies and tactics related to movement and performance. Standard 3 - The physically literate individual demonstrates the knowledge and skills to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical activity and fitness. Standard 4 - The physically literate individual exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others. Standard 5 - The physically literate individual recognizes the value of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and/or social interaction.

Students will comprehend concepts related to health promotion and disease prevention to enhance health. Standard 2 Students will analyze the influence of family, peers, culture, media, technology, and other factors on health behaviors. Standard 3 Students will demonstrate the ability to access valid information, products, and services to enhance health. Standard 4 Students will demonstrate the ability to use interpersonal communication skills to enhance health and avoid or reduce health risks. Standard 5 Students will demonstrate the ability to use decision-making skills to enhance health. Standard 6 Students will demonstrate the ability to use goal-setting skills to enhance health. Standard 7 Students will demonstrate the ability to practice health-enhancing behaviors and avoid or reduce health risks. Standard 8 Students will demonstrate the ability to advocate for personal, family, and community health.
