Links with ENP ENP & Environment & Water  Overall goal for environmental cooperation with the neighbourhood: Gradual convergence with EU environment policy and standards Technical basis for CONVERGENCE of LEGISLATION in the field of WATER (e.g. Morocco: groundwater; Tunisia: saline intrusion; etc.)  Water Section in Action Plans (Israel, Jordan, Palestinian. Auth., Tunisia, Morocco)

6 WATER SECTION in AA Environmental governance:
Work towards improvements in the overall water and sanitation management system (PAL) Pursue efforts to set up administrative structures in charge of water management at national an local levels and improve coordination between different ministries in charge of water resources management (MOR) Strengthen administrative capacity of authorities in charge of water resources management (MOR) Pursue efforts to improve water supply and quality, in rural areas, with a view to meeting WHO standards (PAL)

Prevent pollution of waters, in particular through enhanced water pollutant emission reporting, drawing on the experiences within the WFD (ISR) Enhance cooperation between relevant authorities on prevention of pollution of water resources (ISR) Exchange of information between on best practices on water reuse (ISR) Adopt a financial strategy for water management issues (MOR) Implement the National water resources plan (TUN)

FINANCIAL SUPPORT PROVIDED : - Contract for the Monitoring and Support Unit (RMSU) of the MEDA Water Programme 5.
