1 Mrs. Hake’s Friday, Oct.12th edition CLASSROOM news Week in Review: Sneak Preview This week we met the letters N and M. We also worked hard in our guided reading groups being introduced to letter and word games and reading books to begin our reading! We discovered the scientific process as we discussed sinking and floating. We learned science words like “hypothesis”. Can you believe the pumpkin floats because it is less dense than water?. Ask us what we learned at Brumbaugh Farms! Thank you to Tipp City Schools for funding our trip! Thank you also to all volunteers who joined us! Halloween Party  Our classroom Halloween Party will be on October 31st. It will be from Parents are welcome, but not obligated to attend our celebration. Students will parade in their costumes at the Tipp Middle School earlier in the day.. The students are encouraged to come to school in costume with the following guidelines: •No weapons (swords, guns, etc.) •No face paint •Nothing that obstructs the students’ ability to walk, sit, talk, use the restroom independently, and/or play. •Students who will be wearing costumes MUST come wearing them. Students will not be permitted to change at school. The students will go to recess and participate in regular classroom activities before the party. Things to Practice Number Counting- as you are walking or riding in the car count as many pumpkins as you see! Sorting/ Graphing- create a graph with candy from trick or treat night and see what you have the most and least of. Writing- Stretch out the sounds of words. Try to hear beginning, middle, and ending sounds. Write letters and numbers in sand, pudding, applesauce, shaving cream. Continue practicing the letters that we have learned by finding things in the house that start with that letter. Go through the rainbow words once a day Keep practicing name writing every day. Keep Reading! Conferences are right around the corner. There are two papers attached to this newsletter. Please fill out and return both papers no later than Friday, October 19th. One is a parent questionnaire, and the other is for you to preference three times that work for you. We do our best to schedule you for one of these times. Your assigned time will come home soon.
