Ms. Passer’s News from Room 106 Important Upcoming Dates:
Week of: October 31st, 2016 Happy Halloween! Join us for the parade starting at 1:45 on Monday. I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween – it’s one of my favorite times of the year! Just a reminder that students have until November 8th to reach their AR goal. This includes their point goal AND their comprehension rate of 85% or higher! Also, the skating permission slip and money are due on Monday! We will finish Topic 4 this week. I truly think the students are figuring out how easy it is to relate division to multiplication! Way to go!! The review will be on Friday the 4th, and we will test that following Monday. We are onto Lesson 2 in Unit 2! Comprehension Strategies: Text and Graphic Features; Analyze/Evaluate Main Story Selection: What Do Illustrators Do? Grammar Focus: Verb Tenses Vocabulary Strategy: Synonyms Vocabulary Words: tracing, imagine, illustrate, scribbles, sketches, research, textures, tools In social studies, we will learn all about the upcoming election and what an election all entails! The students are having a blast learning more and more about the planets! Spelling Words (three-letter clusters): three, scrap, street, spring, thrill, scream, strange, throw, string, scrape, spray, threw, strong, scratch, think, they *challenge: straight, scramble Important Upcoming Dates: November 8th: Last day to reach AR goal!! November Scholastic book orders due this day as well. November 10th: End of Quarter 1 November 11th: No School November 14th: P/T Conferences 3:30-7:30 PM November 15th: Pie pick-up in Mapleton (5-7) November 17th: P/T Conferences 3:30-7:30 PM
