Q2,J Hopefully, you have now finished reading your book of choice. Journal about your overall opinion of your chosen book. Why did you like / dislike it? Can you see any connections between your book of choice and The Odyssey?

Odyssey Essays Your rough draft will be returned to you today, with notes from me. Re-draft and type up. Turn in by the end of this week (Friday 5th). We will be spending Wednesday and Friday in the computer lab.

Monomyth Presentation: Thursday 11th
1. Identify the twelve stages of the Monomyth as they appear in your novel of choice (min. 3 slides) 2. Identify two additional archetypes (situations, characters, and symbols) in your novel of choice (1 or 2 slides) 3. Compare one stage in your novel of choice to the same stage in The Odyssey (1 slide) 4. Include a relevant visual for each slide; one of these must be a video clip (up to 30 seconds)

The woman in danger, must be saved by the hero.
Damsel in Distress The woman in danger, must be saved by the hero.

The Temptress The (usually) female character who’s beauty causes the hero to lose sight of their mission, at least temporarily.

The Star-Crossed Lovers
The lovers who have been ripped apart and will do whatever it takes to be together.

The Faithful Servant The servant (or a character that represents a servant) who remains loyal to the hero, even when others give up on him.
