A Grabber – An interesting or thought-provoking opener to grab the reader’s attention (statement, fact, question, quote, statistics…)
Background – A brief explanation of the main topic and its context (what is it about, and what was happening)
Thesis Statement – a “topic sentence” that defines your essay’s approach to the question; the brain of the essay
An Outline – Briefly mention the three points (one per paragraph) you will be covering throughout the essay
Link – Connect the introduction to the first body paragraph
