Monday 9th July 2018 Welcome to the evening and thank you for attending

3 Aim of the evening To get the students’ application process off to the right start To nurture the partnership between students, parents and the school To provide some clear and useful information about HE application

17 The UCAS Form In the Choices section: 5 choices
(You don’t have to use all 5) There’s no such thing as first choice or preference order It costs £24 and you PAY BY CARD

18 The Reference A draft is being produced:
It consists of a paragraph from each of your subject teachers Plus introductory and concluding paragraphs from your tutor Your tutor will turn this into one complete coherent piece of prose

19 The Reference You will meet with Mr Fitz where we will be able to:
proof read, fill out, fine tune and polish it up into a final reference

20 The Predicted Grades See Mr Fitzpatrick when you have finished your UCAS application in the Autumn Term. He will meet with you in order to discuss your grades. He will look at Your Year 12 mock results Your PPG and Assessment grades The grades required by your universities

21 Deadline Turn-round time could be up to a week
There are over 100 students in Year 13 Offers are given out immediately upon receipt Oxbridge October 15th After November is late

22 Student Finance While at university, there are two main costs – tuition fees and living costs. Students can apply for student finance to help with both. All eligible students can get a: Tuition Fee Loan to cover the full cost of the fees charged by their university or college basic rate of Maintenance Loan to help with living costs, such as rent and bills

23 Student Finance Any loans you borrow have to be paid back, but not until they’ve finished or left their course, and their income is over the repayment threshold (currently £25,000 a year) Students will repay 9% of their income over the threshold You apply for Student Finance in Spring 2019 More information from Student Finance England

Universities also offer bursaries, scholarships, or other kinds of financial help – it’s always worth checking with them too. A2B scheme at Birmingham University Grant Fairy All Y12 students have access to the app It has already matched students with £1 billion of funding in 5 months
