Basic Rights in the Canada Labour Code
The right to know – employers must inform employees of foreseeable hazards in the workplace
Must post the code
Post the company’s safety plan
The right to participate – employees must report hazards
Report faulty or broken equipment
Report unsafe tools and uniform items (ex. hard hat)
Practice safe work habits
The right to refuse dangerous work – an employee may refuse to work in a dangerous work place if they report and follow the proper procedures
