You will be expected to bring the following supplies to class at all times:
note writing pen - either blue or black.
marking/underlining pen (red) or highlighter
pencil and sharpener and pencil eraser
calculator
ruler
lined, blank, and graph paper
science binder (or a section of working binder)
five duotangs: one for each unit
Dividers (vocabulary, notes, teacher hand-outs, quizzes)
textbook
pencil case

9. Lab Expectations
It is expected that students will take part in all labs. Should students be away the day of the lab, they will be responsible completing the lab at another time. During labs, you must work at your assigned station with your lab partner(s). Safety is the most important aspect here, both yours and that of the other students in the lab. Inappropriate behaviour will result in being excluded from the activity. Be cautious when handling materials. Wear safety glasses at all times if so instructed. You will be assigned a lab bench and will be responsible for the equipment and the lab station. This includes keeping the station and all the equipment clean!

10. Punctuality
Be prompt when switching classes, as being on time will ensure that you receive all worksheets, handouts and quizzes. It will also avoid interrupting the class and teacher already in class.

11. Class Etiquette
Gum, candy, and any other food and drinks are not to be brought into the room. Should you need to use cough drops show me a note from home prior to the start of the class.
If you want to bring a water bottle, you are welcome to fill it at any time during class. Just wait for an appropriate time.

12. Areas of Evaluation
Homework & Student Products: will be assigned regularly. Students are expected to take their text and notes home every day. If you are sick you need to phone a reliable study buddy whose phone number you have, to get the homework you missed. Being absent is not an excuse for missing assignments. Please be familiar with our school homework policy.
Tests: Two types of tests will be given. 1. Quizzes normally following each topic. 2. Unit exams given upon completion of each unit.
Scientific Skills & Processes: Include observing, measuring, classifying, inferring, predicting, designing experiments, developing hypotheses, graphing, interpreting data, problem solving, working cooperatively, debating, oral presentations, diagramming, constructing models or prototypes, and graphing
There are no surprises in this class, you will be given advance warning of all due dates.

13. Mark Breakdown
Keep a record of all your assignments and tests to chart your own progress. There is an ideal spot in your school agenda.
