2 Introduction to Polygons - Part I Vocab
Polygon- A many sided figure Interior Angle – an angle inside the polygon Exterior Angle – an angle outside the polygon Regular – a polygon with all sides and all angle congruent Irregular polygon – a nonregular polygon. Convex – a polygon with all diagonals inside the figure Concave – a polygon with at least one diagonal outside the figure Simple – a basic polygon with a closed path and without any sides intersecting except at the vertices.

3 Introduction to Polygons - Part I Vocab
Triangle – a three sided figure Quadrilateral – a four sided figure Pentagon – a five sided figure Hexagon – a six sided figure Heptagon – a seven sided figure Octagon – an eight sided figure Nonagon – a nine sided figure Decagon – a ten sided figure Hendecagon – an eleven sided figure Dodecagon – a twelve sided figure

4 Introduction to Polygons - Part II Vocab
Composition of Transformations – when multiple transformations are combined to map a preimage onto an image Isometry – when an image and preimage have the same shape and size Glide Reflection – a composition of reflection and translation Reflectional Symmetry – when a image and preimage map onto itself after being reflected Rotational Symmetry –when a image and preimage map onto itself after being rotated Corresponding Sides – same side, different figure Corresponding Angles – same angle, different figure Congruent Angles – angles having the same measure

5 Introduction to Polygons - Part II Vocab
Congruent polygons – polygons having the same angle measures and side measures Similar Polygons – polygons having the same angle measures and a common ratio between the side measures. Proportional – the comparison of the sides of similar polygons Scale Factor – the common ratio between the sides of similar polygons Ratio – the comparison of two numbers
