2. Wetland energy - biodiversity farming, fuel and flood relief
Throughout Europe, flood-plain wetlands have been converted to agricultural land. Peat soils in particular have been shrinking ever since, leading to greater flood risk and unsustainable agriculture. Conversion of such land to ‘wetland agriculture’ offers the potential to farm for biodiversity, biofuel, and flood-relief.

Partners are sought for:
other potential wetland restoration areas; harvesting and biodiversity monitoring; investigations into energy values of wetland crops; energy production processes – e.g. pelletizing, torrefaction.
