FIGURE 3 A cinefluorography revealed considerable paresis of the hypopharynx and atonic strictures of the upper esophagus. Repeat examination nine days after prednisone was started was normal. This barium swallow revealed apparent obstruction at the level of the inferior pharyngeal constrictor muscle.
