Cartilage – In between joints – acts as a shock absorber, prevents friction Ligaments – Attaches bone to bone Tendons Attaches muscle to bone

Support: gives the body its shape supporting organs and other tissues Protection: Protects internal organs e.g. heart, lungs Movement: Provides areas for the attachment of muscles and lever systems on which muscles can pull Blood production: Bones produce blood cells and store minerals

Axial Skeleton– Head, Neck and Trunk. Function: support and stabilising the body’s structure Appendicular Skeleton – Shoulder, Arms, Hands, Hips, Legs and Feet. Function: Provide movement of the body.
