1. My 4 ½ Cent White House Stamp Exhibit

Why a 4 ½ cent Stamp.

4 ½ Cent FDC’s Errors and Omissions.

2. The 4½ White House stamp is the seventh stamp in the th Bureau Issue, better known as the “Presidential Series”
It was printed in three different shades of gray, dark steel gray ( ), greenish gray ( ) and light true gray (late 1940’s-1957).
The stamp was released in a sheet format (perf 11 x 10 ½) on July 11, 1938…
and in vertical coil format (perf 10) January 20, 1939.
No booklet or horizontal coils stamps were produced.

3. The stamps primary solo use was to replace
three 1½ cents stamps (1½ cent per 2 oz.)
Used by commercial vendors and churches
for the 3rd class rate for items more than
four ounces and less than six ounces.
This rate was in effect from April 15, 1928 to
December 31, 1948.
The stamp could be used solo for the third-class books and catalogs between 2 ounces and 3 ounces from January 1, 1949 to December 31, 1951…
and 1 ½ cents third class under 2 ounces plus 3 cents minimum insurance of $5.00 from November 1, 1944 to December 31, 1948.

Paper color needed to be white.
Needed better eye catching title page stamps.
Did not identify rare, scarce or significant stamps.

6. 2017 OKPEX Title Page
Purpose of exhibit not established as a FDC exhibit.
Still needed a better eye catching title page stamp.
Need to delete section on Special Events Covers (First Flights, Patriotic and Commemorative Covers)
No rare 4 ½ cent stamps and covers exist but there are “Especially Significant” ones.

7. 2018 Houston Stamp Show Title Page
Purpose of exhibit established as a FDC exhibit.
Much better “Wow factor” cover.
Exhibit Plan now in line with Manual of Judging FDC parameters.
This section explains to the viewer and judges why 4 ½ cent stamps are unusual and worth collecting and studying.
