9 That’s not all! That’s the basics – where, when etc. but what truly is a roverway?

10 Fun! You will learn new skills, try new activities, and get a chanceto do things you already know and love

11 Friendship After spending 11 days with your patrol, you’ll have found some great friends, both old and new. You’ll have made friends from different parts of the world, from different walks of life, and together on your path, you’ll create something memorable. Who knows where your Roverway journey might lead you! (See how many faces you recognise!)

12 Going on a journey Quite literally, you are travelling around the Netherlands on Roverway. But it’s also a journey for yourself. You’ll try new things, meet new people, all with support from the CMT, the IST, your path director, your tribe members, your patrol members, to help you explore and grow. What will you discover?

13 UK Patrol Challenges Hopefully you’ve all been working hard on finding a patrol identity So far they should have: Name, badge, mascot, social media. A lot probably don’t so we can encourage them to keep working on that if they haven’t already.

14 UK Patrol Challenges Strengthen Your Patrol – February to April
Create a patrol video showcasing what makes your patrol unique and share it with #Roverway2018 or #RoverwayUK Meet up! Tackle a shared fear. Strengthen Patrol – February to April *Create a patrol video to introduce your patrol to the rest of the contingent, as well as international patrols.  Showcase what makes your patrol unique and how you feel about attending Roverway  Remember to use the #Roverway2018 as any good examples could be reposted by UK CMT. *Embrace this year’s theme of ‘opposites attract’ by meeting as a patrol and doing something different.  You might join up for a camp (pre organised by one explorer unit for example) or meet up for the day, exploring a local city. *Tackle a shared fear.  This one is completely up to you and is designed to encourage you to embrace the moment.  Try pushing yourself out of your comfort zone, stretching what you thought you could do.  Bear in mind you might not tackle the fear itself but by working together your patrol will learn so much about themselves.

15 PL Academy For Patrol Leaders and Assistant Patrol Leaders
13th-15th April Training weekend Training weekend to give them the tools and skills they need to be able to support their patrol. Also to develop a better support network for their patrol and find out the latest updates!

16 Paths Between 60 and 80 Paths
All over the Netherlands and even in the border areas together with Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany Tribe of 40 to 50 participants Organised by 3 Path leaders

17 Paths Choose 5 preferences. UK launch by 27th Feb.
Submit preferences to us. Deadline: 15th March or 15th May. Each patrol needs to agree a top 5 list. We will send round the form they need to complete after the last GRT. They then need to fill it in and return it to us. We have to send them back to the organisers in two batches, on the 15th of March and 15th of May (so we need info from them before these dates). If they submit by 15th March, then they’ll be more likely to get their first choice from the existing paths. Some may fill up before May. However, more paths will be opened between March and May so they’ll get different options for the May deadline. If they submit in March, they can’t change their mind. If they haven’t submitted by the 15th of May, then they won’t get any choice in which path they attend. A patrol must have all their members registered in our system before we can send the organisers their path requests!!

18 Paths will all be advertised on the organisers’ website
Paths will all be advertised on the organisers’ website. Each path will have several “icons” attached to give you an idea of what the path includes, and here’s a list of the icons available.

19 An example of a path – maybe read out some of this to explain the path and tell them what the icons tell you about the path. Every path involves sleeping somewhere unusual.

20 www.roverway2018.nl → Programme → Paths
Pathfinder The top link tells them where to go to find the list of paths. The bottom link is the pathfinder, if possible click the link and show it to them so they know what you’re talking about! It’s basically an interactive tool with a map where they can select “path icons” and it’ll filter the available paths to meet the icons they’ve picked.
