Analyses the effects of the writer’s choices of language Selects a judicious (short) range of quotations Uses sophisticated subject terminology accurately

Verbs - try to group eg violent verbs Adjectives – try to group, eg adjectives that suggest light Personification Onompatopoeia Sensory writing Metaphor Alliteration – don’t write about this, no one writes about it effectively Simile

Effective language analysis – you should have at least 3 sentences after the quote
Technique - what device has been used Effect – how does the writer want the reader to think/feel? Language – what word can you pick from the quote for further comment? It is as if...let your interpretation go wild! Look at intro phrases for each

Identify the key terms in the question Find evidence in the text to agree/disagree Approach and write up like Q2 (and you can use the same points as long as they answer the question) – language analysis
