Classroom Expectations
Students arrive promptly, unpack, and begin morning work. Students are to stay on task and not disrupt the learning process. Students are to be Ready, Responsible, Respectful (The “3 R’s”) Students will copy their homework in their agenda every day, and hand in completed homework in a timely manner (the next morning) Bingo Points and PAWS Think Sheet--filled out in class and sent home for parent signature to be returned to school the next day.

These Plans will be posted each quarter
The First Nine Weeks Go To Our Website! You can find our 9 Week Plans for each quarter on our Pinebrook 3rd Grade Website. These Plans will be posted each quarter Social Studies and Math standards have changed year. Notebooks will be supplemented by packets during units where other information is needed.

Math Grouping Pre-Tests given first days of school
Enrichment Class & Differentiated Students may switch teachers Math classes will start Sept. 4th ALL students’ are taught the same content, but activities/content are delivered according to individual needs.

Homework Math – paper and online Reflex Math Username: rmanuel
Password: usually 4 digit birthday Students are to go on at least 2 days a week. Students work until they reach green light

Reading – independent reading & homework Most nights, studying for science or social studies and spelling tests Students are responsible for and expected to use their agendas daily. Parental supervision of agenda use is strongly advised. **Homework should NOT exceed one hour!**

Word Study In School Daily: At Home: Words introduced Wednesdays
Sorting Written activities Partner Work At Home: Study spelling of words Can review sort if desired Words introduced Wednesdays Quizzes on Tuesdays Students may switch teachers for introductions and quizzes of words for differentiation.

Red Book Cart Pathway carts were sent from the County for our Reading Program. Carts are circulated among the grade level teachers to bring an additional variety of genres. Acknowledgment forms will be sent home within the next couple weeks. Like library books, children will be required to pay for any lost books.

Teachers will use the following grading scale for student work:
4 – Consistently goes beyond established goals for Third Grade content and justifies reasoning behind an answer in written responses 3 – Meets established goal for Third Grade content 3 + : applies some of the “4” expectations 2 – Demonstrates partial knowledge of Third Grade content, but is progressing toward complete knowledge of standard. May have some misconceptions. 2+: Applies some of the “3” expectations 1 - Does not meet established grade-level goals for Third Grade content 1+ : applies some of the “2” expectations

Vacations If you are planning on taking a vacation that will be more than 3 days, you must the office to have it approved by the administration. PLEASE let me know if your student will not be in school for an extended amount of time! Several days notice is expected if you wish to receive any work ahead of time for your child to take with you before your trip!
