3 Introduction When preparing to create an appropriate presentation, it is important to know the audience. It is necessary to maintain a professional presentation while incorporating formatting and objects to add interest. It is also important to proof the presentation for errors in grammar and spelling. 11/15/2018

4 Selecting and deselecting objects
In PowerPoint, almost everything is an object that can be moved, resized, sometimes rotated and transformed with color, shadow or shading. The content of the presentation is the most important aspect and should be focused on during creation 11/15/2018 PowerPoint - Lesson 4

5 Selecting and deselecting objects
An object cannot be manipulated until it is selected. To select various objects, simply click on them. When you see the sizing handles on the objects outer border, you will know that you have selected the object. The circles that appear around the object are called resize handles. 6 Selecting and deselecting objects
You may also, select the object. On the Drawing Tools toolbar, select the “Text Box” icon. This will allow you to add text to any object. You may also use the Drawing tools toolbar to edit the object such as its color, outline and effects If you wish to edit the inside of an object, select the object first. 7 Adding text to slides Additional text objects can be added to a slide at any time. 8 Adjusting text objects
Word wrapping and object sizing will allow the user to maintain a neat appearance on the slide Resizing a text object will allow for larger items like clip art to be placed inside of the object Right click on the object and select “Format Shape” to change the settings of the object Demonstrate how to change the object’s default settings using the Format dialog box found when right-clicking on the selected object. Demonstrate how to change the placeholder’s default settings using the Format dialog box. 9 Formatting text The default font setting on any slide can be changed by the user. 10 Changing text alignment and spacing

11 Moving a text object Moving a text object might make slides more a appealing To move an object, you must first select the object. Then you drag the object to the desire location and drop it. You may also “nudge” an object into a location. This requires use of the arrow keys to move the object slightly. 12 Find and replacing text and fonts
The Find and Replace option searches for a specific word or phrase throughout the presentation, then replaces all occurrences of the word or phrase without having to navigate each individual slide in the presentation. 13 Find and replacing text and fonts
Open up the Find Dialog Box and type in the word or phrase that you wish to find. 14 Correcting text while typing
The AutoCorrect option used in the PowerPoint will automatically correct common spelling errors. The AutoFit option in PowerPoint will automatically resize text to fit in a placeholder. 15 Checking spelling Spell Checking will correct only words that appear in the standard dictionary Names are sometimes marked as misspelled because they do not appear in the standard dictionary On the review tab, select “spelling” to check the spelling and grammar throughout the presentation 11/15/2018

17 Checking spelling You can save time by using smart tags
When PowerPoint recognizes types of data, it marks the data with a smart tag indicator. To find out what actions you can take with a smart tag, move the insertion point over the underlined text until the Smart Tag Actions button appears. You can then click the button to see a list of actions you can take. 11/15/2018
