2 Picturing the Brain (INTRO)
(3:10)

3 Accidents (Phinneas Gage - understanding of what parts of the frontal cortex do due the changes in his personality and behavior after his accident)

4 Lesions (brain tissue is damaged / destroyed; not on humans = unethical; may be done on lab rats- kill certain part & see behavior)

EEG: measures brain wavelengths ; electrodes takes info from electrical impulses & analyzes these impulses; tell what is going on inside brain

CT (or CAT) Scan: basically an xray of the brain - looks for damage - doesn't tell what part of brain is activated like other scans

7 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHLBcCv4rqk (1:32)
PET scan: looks at amount of glucose in brain; brain loves glucose (for energy) - when something in brain is activated it is using more glucose at that moment & tells which part is activated

8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CGzk-nV06g (1:20)
MRI scan: makes atoms in brain line up and signal sent to disorient the atoms; when atoms go back to normal movement it tells which part of brain was being activated

9 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLORKtkf2n8 (4:00)
(4:00) fMRI scan: takes a quick photo in succession and looking for changes in blood flow of the brain;  brain  rushes to part of brain that is being activated so colour indicates part of brain being activated/used for a particular task

10 NEW VIEWS ON THE BRAIN Exercise, Stress, and the Brain
(2:27) & Neuroplasticity (2:03 ) (3:04) &article
