Problem 2.15 deals with another example of exponential (or allometric) models in geology. In this example, the exponential model is used to characterize rate of accumulation of carbonate sediments on a reef. Sedimentation rate p is modeled as
where po and Z are constants and z is depth below sea level.
Calculate p over the depth range 0 to 20 m for po=3m and Z=20m (use Excel to plot your result).
Give an interpretation of the constants po and Z.
