3 Community Agreements Understand that those who work, learn.
Phrase questions for the benefit of everyone. Recognize that everyone has expertise. Challenge ideas, not people. Maintain flexibility. Share talk time. Limit use of electronic devices.

4 Learner Outcomes Participants will:
deepen their understanding of FSA Technology Enhanced Items. explore resources to provide students with exposure to various response types.

5 It’s almost time to take the computer-based
FSA Mathematics test! Here are some important explanations and reminders to help you do your very best.

6 Test Administration Schedule

7 FSA Mathematics Students in Grades 6–8 will take the Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) Mathematics test on the computer. You will complete the FSA Mathematics test over two days. Grades 6–8 students will have three sessions. Each session will last 60 minutes. You will take Session 1 on Day 1 and Sessions 2 and 3 on Day 2.

8 Test Administration Schedule
Session Lengths by Grade Level and Subject FSA EOC Assessments All FSA EOC assessments are administered in two sessions over two days. Any student who has not completed a session by the end of the allotted time may continue working; however, each session may last no longer than half the length of a typical school day.

14 Reminders Calculators. For Grades 7–8 FSA Mathematics and EOC assessments, handheld calculators are allowed for Session 2 (and 3) only. All school personnel, especially test administrators, must be made aware of this policy. If students will use handheld calculators during Session 2 (and 3) of a Grades 7–8 Mathematics or EOC assessment, school personnel must ensure that the models used adhere to the guidelines in the Calculator and Reference Sheet Policies for Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) Mathematics Assessments, which is posted on the FSA Portal. Providing a calculator with prohibited functionality or in the incorrect test session (Session 1) is cause for test invalidation.

15 Taking the Test Let’s talk about the materials you will use to take the test and the process you will follow when taking the test.

16 Test Delivery System (TDS)
You will take the test in the FSA Secure Browser using the Test Delivery System (TDS).

17 Work Folders Florida Computer-Based Testing Work Folders are four-page folders that students may use to work the problems. The Testing Rules Acknowledgment is printed on page 2. The last page of the folder (back cover) is printed with graph paper. Work folders are distributed to students at the beginning of each Mathematics and EOC test session. School assessment coordinators and test administrators must ensure that students have enough desk space to use their folders. Each student must be given a new work folder for each Mathematics and EOC test session, with the exception of Grades 6–8 FSA Mathematics. For Sessions 2 and 3 of Grades 6–8 FSA Mathematics, students should use the same work folder for Session 2 and Session 3. Used work folders are considered secure materials and must be kept in locked storage and returned in the District Assessment Coordinator ONLY box.

18 Test Materials Reference Sheets
Reference sheets are provided for Grades 4–8 FSA Mathematics and all FSA EOC assessments in an online format for computer-based testing. The reference sheets are displayed in pop-up windows in their respective tests. The reference sheets are also provided on the FSA Portal. Schools may provide hardcopy reference sheets to students. Schools that provide hardcopy reference sheets must ensure that copies are available for all students taking the test. Any hardcopy reference sheets must be photocopies of the files found on the portal. Copies must not be made from used reference sheets or sheets that contain notes or handwriting. Each copy must be carefully checked against the original to ensure that all content is copied and that it is clear and easy to read.

47 Technology-Enhanced Items (FSA)
The FSA offers a variety of higher order assessments with technology-enhanced features. All of these check student comprehension beyond standard multiple choice or fill-in-the-blank but are still instantly and automatically graded. The goal is for us to constantly present to our students items to match Common Core and state-specific assessments.

48 Technology-Enhanced Items (FSA)
Technology-Enhanced Item Editing Task Choice - The student selects a highlighted word or phrase, which reveals options for correcting an error as well as the highlighted word or phrase as it is shown in the sentence to indicate that no correction is needed.

49 Technology-Enhanced Items (FSA)
Technology-Enhanced Item Editing Task - – The student clicks on a highlighted word or phrase that may be incorrect, which reveals a text box. The directions in the text box direct the student to replace the highlighted word or phrase with the correct word or phrase. For paper-based assessments, this item type may be replaced with another item type that assesses the same standard and can be scanned and scored electronically.

50 Technology-Enhanced Items (FSA)
Hot Text a. Selectable Hot Text - Excerpted sentences from the text are presented in this item type. When the student hovers over certain words, phrases, or sentences, the options highlight. This indicates that the text is selectable (“hot”). The student can then click on an option to select it. For paper-based assessments, a “selectable” hot text item is modified so that it can be scanned and scored electronically. In this version, the student fills in a circle to indicate a selection

51 Technology-Enhanced Items (FSA)
Hot Text b. Drag- and – Drop Hot Text - Certain numbers, words, phrases, or sentences may be designated “draggable” in this item type. When the student hovers over these areas, the text highlights. The student can then click on the option, hold down the mouse button, and drag it to a graphic or other format. For paperbased assessments, drag-and-drop hot text items will be replaced with another item type that assesses the same standard and can be scanned and scored electronically.

52 Technology-Enhanced Items (FSA)
Technology-Enhanced Item Choose All – Select all that apply Multi-select – The student is directed to select all of the correct answers from among a number of options. These items are different from multiple- choice items, which allow the student to select only one correct answer. These items appear in the online and paper-based assessments.

53 Technology-Enhanced Items (FSA)
Technology-Enhanced Item Open-Response The student uses the keyboard to enter a response into a text field. These items can usually be answered in a sentence or two. For paper-based assessments, this item type may be replaced with another item type that assesses the same standard and can be scanned and scored electronically.

54 Technology-Enhanced Items (FSA)
Equation Editor - The student is presented with a toolbar that includes a variety of mathematical symbols that can be used to create a response. Responses may be in the form of a number, variable, expression, or equation, as appropriate to the test item. For paper-based assessments, this item type may be replaced with a modified version of the item that can be scanned and scored electronically or replaced with another item type that assesses the same standard and can be scanned and scored electronically.

55 Technology-Enhanced Items (FSA)
Matching Item - The student checks a box to indicate if information from a column header matches information from a row. For paper- based assessments, this item type may be replaced with another item type that assesses the same standard and can be scanned and scored electronically.

56 Technology-Enhanced Items (FSA)
Technology-Enhanced Item Table Item - The student types numeric values into a given table. The student may complete the entire table or portions of the table depending on what is being asked. For paper-based assessments, this item type may be replaced with another item type that assesses the same standard and can be scanned and scored electronically.

57 Technology-Enhanced Items (FSA)
Graphic Response Item Display (GRID) - The student selects numbers, words, phrases, or images and uses the drag-and-drop feature to place them into a graphic. This item type may also require the student to use the point, line, or arrow tools to create a response on a graph. For paper-based assessments, this item type may be replaced with another item type that assesses the same standard and can be scanned and scored electronically.

58 Technology-Enhanced Items (FSA)
We will give participants a copy of the tips for the Technology enhanced items to discuss and review (Q/A)
