Effects of the Internet on Education Advantages: Learning becomes more accessible. Opens opportunities up to distance learning. Most sources have no charge for their use.

Effects of the Internet on Education Promotes improved learning: The technology is not the be all to end all. How is it used/applied to class content? When is its use appropriate? The Internet allows large amounts of information to be accessed. It offers a higher level of learner control. It promotes a different role for the teacher.

Effects of the Internet on Education Appropriateness: While the student is able to access a myriad of people, not all are safe. The student may also access inappropriate sites for their age or purpose. They need guidance. Some sites may need to be blocked. Students and parents need to be educated on the acceptable use of the Web and email.

Effects of the Internet on Education Learning the Internet takes time: Students and teachers take significant time to learn to navigate the Internet effectively. The Digital Divide: The difference between the haves and the have nots has a name. Districts have budget constraints. Families have budget constraints.
