5 Making rubbings of the carvings on the furniture and handling some objects

6 Use a basic template based on the Art Deco photos to cut out highlighted sections to create 3 acetate templates

8 Use craft knives to cut the highlighted sections of design out of acetate, using a photocopy of the design underneath to guide cutting

9 Tape acetate to the back of the silk screen
Tape acetate to the back of the silk screen. Ensure all areas around the template are taped to make sure no paint escapes onto the paper.

10 Line up card under the silk screen
Line up card under the silk screen. Make sure it is centred underneath the template. Use pencil markers to help you align each print.

11 Squeeze paint at the top of the screen.
This is called “the well”

12 Use a squeegee to ‘flood’ the screen and drag the paint across the screen. This is called making a ‘pull’. Make 1-4 pulls depending on thickness of the paint.

13 Gently peel the screen away from the card to reveal your silk screen print!

14 Allow the paint to dry and then print the next parts of the print using different templates and different colours!
