CRT PAY RATES State and Catholic increase in April 2018 to $58.84/hour, $353.03/day (next increase in October 2018) Independent: Emergency teachers to be paid a minimum of 3 hours Open 14 Minimum salary for Award pay rates

Modes of employment: Casual employment Fixed term contract
Agencies *TANVic Generally no leave entitlements for casuals Reasons for fixed term: specific period; specific task of limited tenure; leave replacement; potential redundancy; replacement for a position that has been terminated after commencement of the school year Check your contract with us! Catholic/Independent schools Conditions in the workplace Being an active union member *Change the Rules campaign: Doing a good job so you get further employment Professionalism ‘Reasonableness’ as the key word for the allotted workload – having a break, not doing duties each break, planning time provided if replacement is for a week, similar Most CRT are not attached to a school – change this if you are based at a school for considerable time Get to know the sub-branch rep in schools (can contact IEU for the info) Join a network
