2 SAFETY SHOWER AND EYE WASH STATIONS
Safety showers and eye wash stations are located within facility the near areas where there is potential for exposure to hazardous chemicals. Stations are placed with a highly visible sign and the distance is no more than 10 seconds travel time for injured person to travel through an unobstructed pathway. Stations must be connected to a potable water system with a back flow check valve. The CSP stations are directly connected to the city- potable water system, and water is allowed to flow through an instant water heater. Report Errors to Management

3 Location The heater is intended to provide tempered water to the station once it is actuated. There are 3 separate eye wash stations: Warehouse Water Keg on Catwalk Lab There are towels provided at the shower stations for added privacy. The locations are listed in the weekly inspection routine. Report Errors to Management

5 Emergency Procedures In the event a chemical exposure emergency
Turn on the shower and enter Rinse your head before removing your goggles or your chemical clothing Remove protective equipment while standing under the water. Flush eyes and / or skin for at least 15 minutes Notify supervisor as soon as emergency has subsided Seek IMMEDIATE medical attention for eye after completing the 15 minute rinse Do not rub eyes. Forcibly hold eyelids apart to ensure complete irrigation Report Errors to Management

6 Station Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance
Inspect the station closest to the work area. A quick, undocumented test tells if the unit is ready to be used. All CSP stations are inspected for operation in a weekly basis. A weekly, documented inspection is also in place. Report Errors to Management

7 Station Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance
All CSP stations are flushed for 1 min. once a month. The monthly inspection is documented. An annual flow test must be conducted and documented in all stations. The annual flow test must indicate no less than 20 gal/min at the shower, and 0.4 gal/min at the eye-wash station Report Errors to Management

8 Training All CSP personnel must be trained in a yearly basis on the operation of safety showers in accordance with OSHA regulation. Report Errors to Management
