Durango Wildlife Resistant Container Study
Dr. Heather Johnson of Colorado Parks & Wildlife Partnered with the City of Durango Trash and Recycling Department in 2013 to study the effectiveness of wildlife resistant containers on bear/human conflict 1,200 wildlife resistant containers were distributed in two areas in the City of Durango Two control areas without wildlife resistant containers adjacent to areas with wildlife Life resistant containers
3
So, we worked closely with the City of Durango to deploy ~1,200 bear cans in 2 treatment areas (north and south). We also monitored control areas to the south of each neighborhood (not on this map – as we gave this map to the public). This is what it looks like when you have to prep 1200 containers to go out ADD AVERAGE COMPLIANCE RATES FOR EACH EXPERIMENTAL UNIT
