5 WHO IS A LEADER? Before we begin, there are several questions we would like for you to reflect on. DO YOU HAVE THE DESIRE TO RALLY PEOPLE? DO YOU HAVE THE WILLINGNESS TO MOVE PEOPLE? WHO WOULD FOLLOW YOU? WHY WOULD THEY FOLLOW YOU?

7 What is a Kairos Leader? A Kairos Leader is a person who does everything in a spirit of LOVE. They are called by Christ to be a servant. They set self aside. They are advocates for Christ and prayer is their foundation. Their goal is to plant seeds – seeds of LOVE! They Walk their Talk!

8 Developing, identifying, and developing future leaders achieve ministry excellence and community!
Lets look in the mirror and ask ourselves: Am I a dedicated Kairos Leader? Are you willing to develop a relationship with individuals to discern their strengths and abilities? Do I lead with the love of Christ? Are you willing to walk with them in Christian Love, being an encourager and lifting them up in prayer constantly? Do I consider myself a servant of the servants? Do I have a prayer life? Do I “Walk the Talk”?

10 Qualities of a Kairos Leader
Biblical/Kairos Leader Christ Centered and Spirit Led Commitment! Delegates and allows others to participate. Communication Skills, invites feedback from those serving with him/her. Passion and Visionary Generosity and Encourages others Listening Skills. Can teach and be teachable

11 HOW TO IDENTIFY A LEADER?
Look for the one who has a Passion for the Ministry. Passion makes a difference. Look for the one who has Character – Talent is a Gift, Character is a choice. Look for the one who has Charisma – They are more concerned about making others feel good about themselves. Look for the one who has a Positive Attitude – “Your attitude is your Choice” Look for the one who has Problem Solving Skill – “You can measure a Leader by the problems he/she tackles. 14 ERRORS TO AVOID WHEN A LEADER IS IDENTIFIED!
Over powering Too pushy Saying “You can do this. It is easy.” Not meeting the progression steps Lack of obedience to the Ministry Needing a warm body.

15 DEVELOPING A SERVANT LEADER!
Prayer is the Foundation Loving others as Christ loved Recognizing we are called by Christ God’s Will be done – not our will. Offering our sacrifice Staying focused on the Kairos Mission and Vision and within the Riverbanks

Selection by Advisory Council Approval (State Chapter Committee) Progression of steps and Procedures for Leaders Advanced Kairos Training – AKT (12 to 24 months prior to Weekend) Leadership

17 Selection by Advisory Council
Leaders should have sufficient experience in Kairos Leaders have demonstrated maturity Leaders understand the Kairos Method Leaders should be active in the Continuing Ministry Leaders are able to build a loving Christian Community Leaders are able to delegate responsibilities Leaders are able to demonstrate organizational skills Leaders must demonstrate a solid Spiritual Life Leaders are willing to attend Advance Kairos Training

19 Progressive Steps to Leadership
Kairos Inside Steps: ◦Minimum of three weekends ◦Minimum of two Talks/Meditations ◦At Least one Weekend must include being seated at a family table ◦Position of increasing responsibility – Inside Coordinator, Head Servant, Chapel Coordinator, Agape Coordinator ◦Serve as Observing Leader – Must attend Advanced Kairos Training prior to serving as Observing Leader

20 Progressive Steps to Leadership
Kairos Outside ◦ Must have served on at least three Kairos Weekends ◦ Must have held at least one position on a team inside the community room ◦Must have held at least one position on a team outside the community room ◦ Must have held at least one Core Team position ◦ Must have presented a minimum of two Talks and/or Meditation ◦ Attend Advance Kairos Training prior to serving as Observing Leader #1

23 Why? Advanced Kairos Training
Learn how to prepare for and conduct a Kairos Weekend and Continuing Ministry Learn what being a Weekend Leader involves For Program consistency throughout the Ministry Learn responsibilities of Advisory Council vs Weekend Leader Learn the differences between Kairos and other 4th Day experiences Learn terminology used in Programs and within Kairos Learn more about the Kairos Program manual, Ezra, and other tools and resources available to Leaders

24 Advance Kairos Training

25 ADVISORY COUNCIL Once you recognize a potential leader, invite them to an Advisory Council meeting. Educate to purpose and goals of Advisory Council Invite them to be an Advisory Council Member Let them know the terms are for three years Instruct them on the 14 positions. Positions are for one year. Maximum terms – 6 years Support Love Listen Advisory Council Operations and Policy Training (annually)

26 WHY? ADVISORY COUNCIL OPERATION AND POLICY TRAINING
Advisory Council Operation and Policy training is required annually If we know the policies and operation of something, than we can do a much better job. It is important for a person to know their responsibilities We can support and love each other Continue to mentor Develop relationships

27 STATE CHAPTER COMMITTEE
Invite potential Leaders to attend a State Chapter Meeting. Encourage them to consider growing in the ministry. Help them to know the State Chapter purpose and goals, mykairos.org State Chapter include officers and Advisory Council State Representatives Meetings should be held six times a year or no less than four times a year.
