3. Advanced Algebra Advanced Algebra
A class that follows Algebra 1 and little bit of Algebra 2 and re-looks at some topics more in depth.
Hopefully help them on college placement tests.
Help place out of math in college if not required for major
For 11th grade students only – Next year’s options are Pre-Calculus & AP Statistics

4. Algebra 1 Follows the Common Core Curriculum
Moves at a fairly quick pace
Period and half every other day
Requires multiple steps to solve one problem
Required NYS Regents at the end of the course

5. Textbook – Big Ideas Textbooks should be left at home!
Mostly homework will be assigned out of the textbook.
There is an app on your smart phone.
Otherwise can be used as supplemental work.

6. On-Line Textbook
Some students asked about how to sign up for the online textbook so only some students have online access.
They can find both the textbook and practice worksheets there for them.

7. Textbook ADVANCED ALGEBRA Students should keep textbook at home.
Used mainly for Homework
No online version of the textbook
There is a textbook in the back of the room for students to take a picture of the page before they leave if they will be staying somewhere else to do homework.

8. Parent Portal
Students grades are available online to view on the parent portal. This includes both homework’s as well as test and quizzes.

9. Class Grades 90% Test and Quizzes
Difference between test and quiz is how many points they are out of.
10% Homework
2 points completed
1 point partially completed
0 not done
Students are required to make up missed exams in a timely manner.
If a test is not made up within 3 days of an absence a grade of zero
will be given. Homework can not be made up if not completed on day
after it was assigned.

10. Final Exam NYS Common Core Algebra Regents
Students are required to take this test in June.
There are opportunities in both August and January to re-take the test.
FINAL EXAM GRADE – On Report Card
The final exam grade is calculated using a locally developed assessments and the Regents examination, each worth 50%.

11. Final Exam for Non-Regents
Students will be given a mid-term during mid-term week
It is possible that the final exam will be given in class rather than during finals week.

12. End of Year Final Grade Algebra
Made up of equal parts your quarter grade and final exam.
Advanced Algebra
Made up of equal parts quarter grades and mid-term and final exam.

13. My Extra Help! Wednesday After School From 2:30-3:15 in room 136
They should be prepared with questions and stay for as long as they would like.
