Important is too keep the quality as high as possible and to prolong the life of the product – this is the first step and only by keeping the product 3 months longer you can reduce your CO2 by ?? – still the best for the planet
That is why a 100% recycled textile today might not always be the best choice in the end due to the fact can give a product that does not hold as long
So it is important to think about every aspect of the design, all the way from sourcing of materials, to the production and the people working in the factory to the usage and the products end-of-life – to be proactive and think ahead

4. FOOTWEAR Goal & Vision In 20 years from now….
We are an industry leader in grip technology with products that are manufactured in a sustainable & responsible way and where Icebug is part of a circular society.
We started our focused sustainability work in 2015 by participating in a Peak Innovation project for creating a company level strategy to become more sustainable. The whole company participated and our important supply chain partners were included from the very first steps. By creating a strategy we also visioned our position in the industry in 20 years from now, being an industry leader in grip technology with products that are manufactured in a sustainable way and where Icebug is part of a circular society.

Apart from the fact that every department has their own sustainability manager everyone in the company has their own projects to reach the company goals.
We also have different means of controlling our products as well as aiding our work forward – and these are examples of who we work with and what we are doing today
In 2015 we have closely worked to develop and implement blue signed approved upper materials for our collection and produced all our suede leather shoes with 100% gold rated leather from the “leather working group” approved suppliers.
We also introduced a 50% recycled rubber compound for our lifestyle category.
The lining we use for basically the whole SS18 collection is made from 100% recycled PET polyester.
So we are making efforts and big steps towards becoming more sustainable

And to take an example:
In 2016 we took the strategic decision that our packaging was to be seen first an environmental burden then as a functional and marketing tool.
Therefore we redesigned completely our shoe boxes with implementation as of spring summer 2017.
The new boxes with smarter construction allows us to save 12% in weight, also reduce volumes which have direct results in a C02 emission reduction.
Paper materials are made from 100% recycled material according to the FSC ( and 100% recyclable. Ink used is 100% made from soya ink and we only use black color. We also managed to reduce the filling materials inside the shoes to save further weight and implement our one hang tag only policy,
