This training module covers the Cummins INSITE Update Manager.

2 Cummins® INSITE™ Update Manager Overview
Released with INSITE™ v7.3 in May 2009 Provides up-to-date information for INSITE™ Fault Information System (FIS) files Help and Manual files Feature Packs Service Packs Provides an Automatic Update Notification Alert when updates are available through the internet The Cummins INSITE Update Manager was released on May 27, 2009 with the release of INSITE v7.3. The Update Manager provides up-to-date Fault Information System (FIS) files, Help files, Feature Packs, and Service Packs for INSITE. The Update Manager provides an Automatic Update Notification Alert when updates are available once an internet connection has been established.

3 Automatic Update Notification Alert
The Automatic Update Notification alert will display at a specified day and time if updates are available Choose “Remind Me In” or “Select and Install Updates” The Automatic Update Notification Alert will be displayed at a specified day and time once an internet connection has been establish. More information on how to change the day and time for the alert will be provided in later slides. The user can choose to be reminded later. There are options to remind the user in 1 hour, 3 hours, 1 day, 3 days, or 1 week. Or the user can decide to Select and Install Updates by clicking on the link.

4 Check for Updates Manually
Updates can be manually checked through the following: Start >All Programs > INTELECT > Cummins INSITE Update Manager INSITE > Help > Check for Updates Open the INTELECT Programs folder on the desktop and double-click on the Cummins INSITE Update Manager icon Updates for INSITE can also be checked manually through the following three ways. From the computer’s Start Menu > All Programs > INTELECT > Cummins INSITE Update Manager (NOTE: INSITE will need to be closed before updates can be installed.) From inside of INSITE from the Help Menu > Check for Updates The Update Manager can also be opened from the desktop through the INTELECT Programs folder and then double clicking on the Cummins INSITE Update Manager icon.

5 Get Updates From Internet/CD
Chose Update From Internet or CD Option Select Get Updates Once the user has opened the Cummins INSITE Update Manager either through the Automatic Update Notification Alert or manually, the user can chose to update from either from the Internet or from a CD. Update CDs are available upon request. Order information is available externally through your Cummins Distributor or internally through Ganet. After “Update From Internet” or “Update from CD” is selected, click the “Get Updates” button.

6 Checking for Updates - Internet
The Cummins INSITE Update Manager will check for updates. This may take several minutes depending on the internet connection speed and the number of updates.

Available Updates To expand selection, click + The available updates will be shown in the left-hand pane. To expand the selection, click the plus sign.

Select the desired updates After expanding the available updates, select all of the available updates by selecting the INSITE box or just the updates that are needed by clicking the box to the left of the file names.

9 Select Available Updates
Size of selected updates In this example, the QSK19 CM850 FIS files have been selected. The description of the update is displayed on the right-hand pane. The Currently Selected Update Size shows the size of the current selected file. In this example, it is currently showing 2.2 MB. The Total Update Size shows the total of all updates selected. This can help the user determine how many updates to download at one time depending on their internet connection speed. In this example, only the one file is selected, so the total update size is the same as the currently selected size. To install the selected updates, select the Install button. Select Install

10 Download Status Information
Once the Install button has been selected, the download status screen will be displayed. The screen will display the name of the file being downloaded, the file size downloaded, the rate of download, and the time remaining for the download. If the user selects the X button in the top right-hand size of the screen during the download, the Cummins INSITE Update Manager will not close. The Update manager will minimize to the taskbar until the download is complete. The user may also pause the download by clicking the Pause button. If the download is cancelled by the user, the Update Manager will return to the Available Updates screen and recheck for updates.

11 Installation Status Information
Once the installation is complete, the installation status will be displayed. If the installation is successful, Success will be displayed. If the installation is not successful, Failed will be displayed along with an error code. Once the installation is complete, the installation status will be displayed. If the installation is successful, Success will be displayed. If the installation is not successful, Failed will be displayed along with an error code.

12 Options Tab – Proxy Settings
Most users will not have to change the proxy settings. For other users, the Proxy Settings will have to be entered. Contact local IT support. Under the Options Tab, the user can change the proxy settings. Most users will not have to change the proxy settings and Update Manager will use the system default proxy. For other users, the proxy address, username, password, and port information will need to be filled in the first time the Cummins INSITE Update Manager is installed. For Proxy Settings, contact the local IT support.

13 Options Tab – Scheduled Update Check
The default Scheduled Update Check is once a month. This can be changed to Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Manually. Under the Options Tab, the user can change the scheduled update check. The scheduled update check, for the Automatic Update Notification Alert, can be changed. The default will be set to Monthly at a random day and time. The scheduled update check can be changed to Monthly, Weekly, Daily, or Manually. If Manually is checked, the Automatic Update Notification Alert will not be displayed and the user can only receive updates by manually selecting the Get Updates on the Update Manager.

The About tab displays the version of the Cummins INSITE Update Manager. There are also links to the Cummins and INSITE websites.
