No shape – to star shape – to long and thin shape – to two no shape cells

Mitosis, yet instead of cell dividing, new nucleus goes into a bulge (bud)
Sometimes bud may break off, but usually continues budding process and forms a long chain of yeast cells

Regeneration – asexual reproduction by the process of regrowing missing body parts
Example: Planarian (flat worm)…cut into pieces and each piece will grow missing parts until it becomes a whole planarian.
Regeneration – can be repair or replacement vs reproduction
Example: deer growing new antlers or a lizard growing a new tail

9. 4. Spores Spore – a cell surrounded by a protective covering
Asexual reproduction - one cell can produce many spores and each can grow into a new organism
Protective covering helps them live in unfavorable conditions
Example: bread mold
