Shakespeare’s career In 1587 Shakespeare went to work in London . He wanted to be an actor and to write plays. In London he began to act and write plays for the theatre . He became famous because his plays were very good . Soon he became an important member of a well-known theatre. In 1599 they built their own theatre on the southern bank of the Thames river which was called the Globe Theatre

He wrote a lot of comedies and tragedies
Among them are: Hamlet As you like it King Lear Othello Henry V Macbeth The Taming of the Shrew Richard III Romeo and Juliet Twelfth Night A Midsummer Night’s Dream Much Ado about Nothing and many, many other plays and sonnets

Hamlet It is one of the most famous tragedies.
Hamlet, the prince of Denmark is a student. His father died and his mother, Queen Gertrude, marries a new king. Hamlet hates his mother for marrying him. Listen to his philosophical thinking.

Othello It was written in 1604.
The marriage of Othello and Desdemona has come to a shock to Iago and he does his best to blame Desdemona and to betray Casio. Now you can see the result of this struggle.

Romeo and Juliet The tragedy “Romeo and Juliet” was published in It is about love between two young people. They are above hatred between their families. They are ready to break this hateful tradition. Their wish to love and be loved is stronger.
