Motion Reference point – a point used to compare the distance of an object to Motion – when an object changes its position from a reference point Position – measure of length away from a reference point Distance – measure of length traveled along a path from a reference point

Velocity Velocity – speed + direction Sign indicates direction
on a graph: - negative = towards reference point + positive = away from reference point

Resultant Velocity Resultant velocity – total velocity of an object moving within another moving object. 1) Change directions to positive and negative signs 2) Plug numbers into equation 3) Change sign back to direction
