Kate was approached by her client’s daughter to take him to the Hare Krishna temple in Coatsville from his rest home. He had been unwell for some time and not visited for 3 years. “When we arrived there the look on his face was incredible, he didn’t stop smiling and I got him to explain all about the icons and what they meant. He was lucid while there and talked me through it all. I have never seen a face light up so much. We now take him out weekly for drives and to the temple once a month.” Kate says that to see the genuine happiness whilst on these outings is a real highlight for her.

We recognised we needed a toolbox to help our team provide the supreme service that we are renowned for to ALL clients. We also recognised a need for reassurance that DMD Drivers and Companions are ‘qualified’ to understand and assist people living with Dementia. DMD take the responsibility of changing people’s lives in our communities seriously and so by being more educated and informed we are better able to target our service to people living with Dementia.
