EXPLORE STUDENT REPORT
This report is only one aspect of your ability. You continually take other tests throughout your school career and, as you age, your interests change. Step 1: Look at the 4 academic test areas:
3
English Usage/mechanics – punctuation, grammar and usage, sentence structure Rhetorical skills – understanding of organization and style Mathematics Reading Science Reasoning These test scores are converted into a “scale score.” To get these scores, EXPLORE converts the number of right answers you gave for each test and assigns them a number. This is a lot like the way a teacher changes the number of questions you answered correctly on a test to a letter grade so you can get a better idea of how well you did on the test.
4
Step 2: National Rank The scale scores correspond to the national ranking. Look at your “National Rank” scores. In the sample above, you can see that the student received a test score of 17 in English and a national rank of This means that about 78 percent (78 out of every 100) of the students in the national group earned the same score or a lower score than this student did, and about 22 percent (about 22 out of every 100) had higher scores in English. You can compare all your test scores, sub scores, and Composite score to the national group in the same way.
5
Step 3: Personal Profile
Still looking at the National Rank box, by looking at how close the bands fall to the vertical line, you can get an idea about your academic strengths and weaknesses. Bands that fall to the right of this vertical line show areas of strength. Bands to the left show areas that may need more work.
