Jr. Cougar Cheerleading
Chattahoochee Jr. Cougar Cheerleading is a not-for-profit organization created to develop and prepare elementary through middle (3rd-8th grades) school athletes for high school cheerleading. It is a volunteer organization comprised of parents and community members who govern and organize the program. The Jr. Cougar cheer program supports their corresponding Jr. Cougar football team by grade level. In addition, the Jr. Cougar cheer program has a competition team composed of 6th-8th grade athletes. Website: Students must live in Chattahoochee High School district. All practices, camps, games and competitions will be in conjunction and accordance to the Fulton County Public School calendar. Expectations for athletes and parents are listed on the second page in the 2018 tryout packet. Please refer to the Junior Cougar Cheerleading Guidelines in the 2018 tryout packet. Completed 2018 tryout packet and fee are due by Tuesday, March 13th. Physical forms - due by June Camp

Expectations Cheerleaders should expect to: Work hard and be committed throughout the season, make new friends and have fun!! Be present and on time at all camps, practices and games. Arrive on time and in the appropriate attire. Cooperate with and respect coaches, teammates and all other volunteers. Have a positive attitude! Maintain high academic and moral standards No Gossiping is allowed! No bullying is tolerated! Learn the rules of football! *Please refer to Tryout Packet for all cheerleader and parent expectations! 4

Squad Guidelines Sideline squads of a maximum of 20 girls will be selected for each grade level according to tryout scores. All cheerleaders must cheer sideline in order to be considered for the competition team. Competition Team will be comprised of top scores from 6th-8th graders (selected from athletes whose parent indicated their child was interested in both sideline and competition when they registered). Competition Team will have up to 20 members; only 16 perform at competitions, the 4 others are alternates. Results will be posted on Monday, March 19th

Online Registration Registration is currently open and will continue through tryouts Log on to to register and pay the registration fee. TryoutS – Sideline & Competition
Tryout Packet and $30 fee are due by March 13th in order to tryout; t-shirt will be handed out for tryouts 3rd, 4th and 5th grades will not need to try out for sideline cheer; tryout packet is due by April 1st for registration purposes Try-outs are for all 6th-8th graders registered for sideline/competition will be held March 13th – 15th at CHS in the Aux Gym Any 5th graders may tryout for the competition team to cheer up Formal tryouts are held in small groups on March 15th Participants will perform a dance, cheer, chant, and jump sequence Assessments will include skills, attendance, attitude and sportsmanship **PLEASE NOTE: Cheerleaders must have already registered online and pay tryout fee or they will not be allowed to try out; Entire Tryout Packet and physical must also be submitted to participate All Stingray Gym balances must be brought to current status in order for your child to participate.

Uniforms Separate uniforms for elementary and middle school squads.
6th grade will be required to buy new uniforms this year; 7th & 8th will buy as needed All squads are required to purchase new pom poms this season Elementary school parents will contact Terri Cox for purchasing uniform pieces and buy back program Middle school parents will contact Wendy Gilbert for purchasing uniform pieces A consignment Google Doc for middle school uniform only will be utilized Uniform fittings for any cheerleaders needing new Varsity or spirit wear item is scheduled April 18th 6:30 – 8:30 at Hillbrooke Pavillion Elementary uniform fitting will be available on April 18th at the Hillbrooke Pavillion Sideline bow is purchased separately 9

Summer Camps CHS Mini Cheer Camp
(3rd-5th grades) at CHS; June 18th – 21st from 9am -1pm; June 22 9am-12pm performance (6th – 8th grades) at CHS June 18th – 21st from 2pm -5pm; June 22 9am-12pm performance Camp is being extended to 5 days with early drop off Camp fees are included in Jr. Cougar Registration Early drop off fee 8:00am-9:00am $5 a day Attendance is mandatory for sideline participation Middle School Halftime Choreography Camp Gym: Stingray Allstars Week of July 23rd – 27th (dates and times TBD) Competition Team Camp TBD – Late July or August (depending on headcount)

Practice Schedule Halftime Practice: Competition Team Practice:
Practices to work on halftime routines will begin August 7th – the first week of school at Stingrays 3rd, 4th and 5th grade: Tuesdays from 3:30 – 5:00 pm 6th, 7th and 8th grade: Wednesdays from 4:30 - 6:00 pm Competition Team Practice: If selected, Spring Training will be held from April 10th – May 17th (6) weeks, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 4:30 - 6:00 pm Fall Practices start on August 7th and are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:30 – 6:00 pm

Fall Football GAMES Attendance at all games is mandatory (please refer to tryout packet for Attendance Policy) A parent/guardian or designated representative must be at the game with your cheerleader in case of an emergency – they can not be unchaperoned Games are on Saturdays beginning in late August through October Game Times will be determined by Jr Cougar Football and posted to their web site. Times are always subject to change 3rd – 5th will normally be in the mornings 6th - 3:30 pm - TBD 7th - 5:30 pm - TBD 8th - 7:30 pm - TBD

Competition Squad Schedule
Attendance at all middle school competitions is MANDATORY! Participate in 6 weeks of Spring training, summer choreography camp, and fall practices Competitions are on Saturdays or Sundays in September,October and November About 3-4 Competitions during the season

Competition Fees Program Fee: Additional $300 on top of sideline fee for sideline and comp (if comp only option is determined once registration has completed, then fees are $450 to cover additional programs expenses) Choreography camp, authorized music, coaches fees, competition entrance fee, banquet, gifts Uniform Rental: Full uniform rental $75 Boyd liner only rental $25 Stingrays Fees: In addition to sideline cheer practice gym fee of $45 ($135 for Aug-Oct), there is an additional $80/month fee for the two weekly competition practices in August, September and October Spring training fee of $80 (6 weeks) for the comp team during April and May

Communications - Each Team Parent will set-up a GroupMe as primary contact during the season for game day, competitions, and practice updates will be used as a secondary means of contact for lengthier communications Jr. Cougar Cheer has a Facebook, Twitter and Instagram account to post updates and pictures Please send all pictures to Laura Sterling for posting Visit the HoochCheer.com websites through out the season for program updates and CHS events
