This Royal Society for Public Health accredited one day course is a must for frontline staff who have a responsibility for promoting healthy lifestyles with individuals or groups. This course will explore behaviour change methodology and evidence with the emphasis on using techniques and tools to build your skills and confidence.
This popular course is based on the behaviour change models endorsed in current NICE guidance. It will provide you with the knowledge and confidence to offer opportunistic brief advice to, or engage in brief interventions with, individuals about behaviour change which could improve their health and wellbeing.
The course covers: active listening; identifying barriers to communication and factors that influence lifestyle choices; motivation for behaviour change, goal setting and action planning. You will have the opportunity to put knowledge into practice and try out practical tools and techniques with expert support and guidance. You will receive a comprehensive training manual with all the resources used during the course.
This course is ideal for anyone who works with people to help improve their health, whether through signposting or supporting people to adopt healthier lifestyle choices, such as:
GP Drug and alcohol worker
Practice nurse Dietician
Pharmacist or pharmacy assistant Sexual health worker
Physiotherapist Health visitor or School nurse
