1 Describe the biblical teachings on equality (8 marks)
God created everyone equally. You should value creation and other humans. Love thy neighbour. Treat everyone equally regardless of religion, gender, race etc. Don’t show favouritism – WWJD You should have been able to include at least 1 quote.

2 Level 1 1 – 2 marks An attempt to answer the question. Small amount of relevant detail. Simple answer and essential information ignored. Level 2 3 – 4 marks A valid attempt to answer the question. Some relevant information with evidence of organisation. Lacking depth and looking at only one viewpoint. Ideas stated but not developed. Level 3 5 – 6 marks An appropriate attempt to answer the question. Selection of relevant information with good development. Level 4 7 – 8 marks A good attempt to respond to the question. A fairly detailed account of the range and depth of relevant material.

3 Christianity and Racism
L.O: To develop your knowledge of Christian views on racism. When you entered the room you were given a post it note can you now get into groups according to the colour of the post it note you were given.

5 Crusades During the Christian Crusades thousands of people were killed across Europe and the Middle East in the name of Christianity.

6 Exploration In the 16th century Spain invade South America (Christopher Columbus) and forced the indigenous people to convert to Christianity. The Spanish also took all of the gold and precious stones.

7 Slavery Slave plantations in the Caribbean and deep south of America were owned by wealthy white Christians. Slavery was abolished in 1895 in America.

8 Apartheid In 1984 Rev Daniel Francois Malan introduced the apartheid to South Africa. Under the new laws people were separated by skin colour: Black, White or Coloured. This was supported by the Dutch Reform Church.

9 Robben Island Prison Cell
Nelson Mandela He was imprisoned for 25 years for speaking out and taking action against the apartheid. When he was released in he worked towards ending the apartheid. Robben Island Prison Cell

10 Desmond Tutu Worked in Soweto as the archbishop.
He campaigned against racism of any kind. When Nelson Mandela was released they worked together against the apartheid. Soweto township

11 Trevor Huddleston Using P.56 read the information on Trevor Huddleston and write a obituary (an account of someone’s life in the newspaper) of the work he carried out against racism. 1913 – 1998

12 The Apartheid Using P.57 look at the pictures and discuss the question in the purple box with your partner.

13 1. Using P.55 write down what the two denominations views are on racism
Church of England Catholic View 2. Read the orange box and you need to create an poster for the ‘Committee for Minority and Ethnic Anglican Concern’ showing the work they do.
