Most voluntary migrations are because of work
Most voluntary migrations are because of work. (especially young people) Some are because of retiring to a smaller town or coastal area (older people) Some are because of desiring a better quality of life and moving from an urban area to a rural area in HIC’s Younger people may migrate for education and older people for health Forced migrations may be because of civil war, environmental damage, natural disaster or political persecution. Forced, Health, Retiring, Work, Rural Area, Education

Main trends in migrant labour:
The globalisation of migration eg. People moving further and to a greater variety of places The acceleration of migration eg. more people are moving The feminisation of migration eg. Women are beginning to migrate as much as men

HIC’s Migrants have skills locals lack eg. Plumbing or do jobs locals don’t want such as caring for elderly or fruit picking Germany: 1/7 workers from outside Germany LIC’s Lose their skilled professionals (brain drain) as they can earn more and have better standard of living in MIC’s Eg.
