1 Titrations PreLAB Omit in procedure #1-4
On a separate piece of paper answer the following questions… What is the objective of this lab? What is a titration? What is the equivalence point? What is an indicator? What is it’s purpose? In today’s lab what solution are we using for an indicator? Predict the products of the neutralization reaction you will see today. You will be adding hydrochloric acid (HCl) and sodium hydroxide. Write the full balanced equation. In this lab we will be using a one to one mole ratio so our formula will be what is shown for (4) on your lab. If you have a known 0.5 M HCl solution and you end up adding 60 mL of HCl to 10 mL of NaOH what would be your concentration of your unknown base? What are some safety rules that are important for this lab? *****Before starting the lab READ the lab to make sure you know what you are doing and get your prelab stamped!!!*** This is not a stamp grade; it is part of your lab grade!
