3. 1. haiku Haiku is a form of poetry that originated in Japan.
Poets seek to create a clear picture with a few words.
Entire poem consists of exactly 17 syllables arranged in 3 lines.
The first and third line each contain 5 syllables. The second line has 7. (5-7-5)
Haiku often centers on a symbol that instantly reminds readers of a season.
